Decline of the Wild

This is a National Geographic story about the rapid and recent decline of the world’s wildlife. In cities, suburbs, and towns, mostly removed from the wild, it’s easy for us to discard the gravity of the loss of a distant ideal. But dear world, once you lose a species, you have lost a species for ever. We’re going down a trajectory from which we can’t backtrack. As a society are we really going to value concrete jungles, flashy electronics, and processed foods over the illusive and impossible to truly understand realm of the wild?
