Accustomed and Thankful

I leave for the airport in exactly 26 hours. I’m completely not ready to leave. Yes, excitement to spend the holidays with my family keeps surfacing. But I’ve had the most amazing time in this dirty, rude, glimmering, genuine, irresistible city. The people I’ve met here have become my family away from home, but even that isn’t completely true, because Prague has slowly but surely morphed into a home of its own. I’ve become desensitized to walking through 800 year old streets, seeing the largest castle in the world peaking over the city, and going through daily life in the blur of spoken Czech all around me while I smile and say ‘thank you’ in Czech as often as possible.

I truly am thankful. So, incredibly thankful for this experience. It ended way too soon.
